The Queensland Learner Logbook system has been in place for the last 8 years to create better, more experienced drivers out of our Queensland’s youth. It involves recording 100 hours of supervised driving to give learner drivers a chance to familiarise themselves with
Queensland’s roads before undertaking practical driving test. The issue with this is not
the system itself, but the means of which the recorded hours are logged; by a fragile, repetitive, dated, ineffective, dishonest, ring bound, pen and paper book system.

Myself, along with the fellow team at TTR have developed an innovative solution with the creation of the mylogbook app. mylogbook brings the logbook system onto the
user’s mobile phone or tablet. It removes the need to fill out repetitive information by
automatically tracking your trip distance and time, and stores vehicles and supervisors for easy selection. mylogbook app also stops the ability to supply false logbook data, making
better, honest and more experienced Queensland drivers.

mylogbook reduces costs for the Department of Transport and can also reveal more information of user’s 100 hour journeys; including manoeuvres they’ve mastered and whether road rules are being followed. Overall, mylogbook is a better, streamlined solution for the Learner Logbook system.
